Bulgaria will have a participant with a car at rally "Dakar 2013"!
After the first Bulgarian participation with ATV in 2011 at Rally Dakar race , the time has come for Bulgaria to send a participant with a car - the most controversial and difficult class in the race.
Head of the team and participant with ATV is the doyen of Off-road in Bulgaria Todor Hristov. He has already organized and accomplished the first Bulgarian participation in the Dakar race in 2011 and gained experience participating in the rounds of the World Rally Championship. Hristov will again compete in Class ATV ,the road crew consists of Orlin Alexiev-pilot and Alexander Stoyanov - navigator. After many tests and races the original intent to compete in class T2 with production car was changed. The concept is also changed and the car that they will compete with is other-BMW X1 A2 Concept. They will compete in the "royal class" T1 with the elite teams and drivers, and the challenge becomes even greater to the team! The car has a six-cylinder diesel engine with 3000 cc capacity., 700 Nm of torque and 300 horsepower and the coupe is on a carbon alloy tubing. The first tests were in the international competition "Balkan Marathon Rally 2012", but the real challenge is next week participating in Rally Morocco in competition with more than 150 crews from all over the world and 2,000 km in the sand and rocky roads through the Atlas Mountains. Alexiev made its debut last year in the sands of Tunisia during the second round of the World Championship, then made successful appearances in the heavy competition "Balkan Marathon 2011 and" 24 Hours in Athens. " Earlier this year, together with Al. Stoyanov started successfully with a victory in the "Tryavna 2012"race, a month later ranked second in the prestigious and difficult competition "Evia Rally 2012" Greece.
This year the team will attack National Championship, which begins with first round in Varna on May 24, "Reid Balkan Rally Cup" where they take second place in the current standings and Greek Off-road Championship, also second second place for the moment. The assistance truck with the necessary equipment is tested at the moment.The team will be also accompanied by a reporter car of journalists. The 35th Edition of the most difficult race "Dakar 2013" will start on January 5th in Peru, will cross Argentina and will finish in Chile on January 20. Our participants will face very heavy racing stages and 8000 kilometers for the two weeks of competition.
